The Masters International Martial Arts Federation (MIMAF) is an international organisation dedicated to the advancement of Martial Artists across all disciplines. MIMAF exists to support practitioners who seek to push beyond limitations, deepen their understanding, and continue their personal journey of growth throughout their martial lives.
At its core, MIMAF fosters personal development through communal engagement. Knowledge is not held in isolation, but shared, refined, and expanded through collective experience. Each member contributes to a growing pool of martial understanding, which is disseminated through structured programs, collaborative events, and ongoing educational initiatives.
Governance & Structure
MIMAF is guided and supported through the following bodies:
-
MIMAF Board
-
Masters International Martial Arts Institute
-
MIMAF Specialist Innovations Laboratory
-
MIMAF Masters Council
-
MIMAF Grand Masters Council
These bodies ensure integrity, innovation, and continuity across all levels of practice, education, and recognition.
Philosophy & Purpose
MIMAF is not merely a grading authority. While it provides pathways for Martial Artists to have their ranks formally recognised by a board of experienced Masters and Grand Masters, it also serves a deeper purpose.
For many senior practitioners, there comes a point where their original teacher is no longer able to grade them. MIMAF provides a respectful, credible, and rigorous pathway for continued development and recognition beyond this stage.
Unlike conventional grading associations, MIMAF does not impose artificial limits. Practitioners are not restricted by fixed time requirements between grades. Instead, individuals are invited to demonstrate their personal knowledge, skill, experience, and contribution within their own martial discipline. Advancement is earned through depth of understanding and embodied practice, not the passage of time.
MIMAF holds that rigid time-based grading systems can hinder growth, diminish challenge, and undervalue genuine skill. True progress arises from ongoing learning, refinement, and commitment.
